| Cape May Stage If you are looking for edgy, contemporary, perhaps never-before-seen, theatrical presentations or like new ideas, new perspectives, and pushing the limits in theatre, like NYC’s Fringe Festival, look no further. Now in its fourth successful season, Cape May Stage’s two week annual ‘Flying Solo Festival’ opens its first week with both New York and Chicago-based performers. November 1st at 8PM the Equity Theatre will present “Renegade Voice from the Mythic Mosaic,” by Imakhu and will finish the week with Michael Fosberg’s “Incognito” on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Renegade Voice from the Mythic Mosaic is a collection of African American folktales, contemporary urban stories, spoken word, music and movement. This magical combination delivers a creative, often autobiographical, voice to ancestral and contemporary Black culture. Presented in two acts, Imakhu brings the wealth of her thirty-year professional artistry to this powerful body of work Cape May Stage’s second Flying Solo Festival presentation will feature Michael Fosberg’s Incognito a personal journey for self discovery in what the Kansas City Star hails as “…the most unique example of a one-man show that theatergoers are likely to encounter “Renegade Voice…” will be performed Thursday, November 1st at 8PM. “Incognito” will be performed Friday, November 2nd, Saturday November 3rd, and Sunday November 4th at 8PM. Tickets are $28 adults, $20 seniors, and $10 students During the second week of its fourth annual ‘Flying Solo Festival’ season, Cape May Stage offers its audiences two original, though-provoking, and often humorous one-person performances. On November 7th and 8th the Equity theatre company will present “Tea for Three” by New York-based actress Elaine Bromka and will conclude the week with the debut of Cape May-based John Alvarez’s original show, “Losing Myself (In Palaces of Sand)” on November 9th, 10th, and 11th. Following “Tea for Three”, Cape May Stage will present “Losing Myself (In Palaces of Sand)”. This one-man show by Cape May’s own writer/performer John Alvarez, describes the life of Jake Tallenger, a writer for hire. “Tea for Three” will be performed on Wednesday, November 7th and Thursday, November 8th at 8PM. “Losing Myself…” will be performed on Friday November 9th, Saturday November 10th, and Sunday November 11th at 8PM. Tickets are $28 adults, $20 seniors, and $10 students. A Flying Solo Flex Pass allows ticket buyers to see all four Festival shows (this includes two other shows during the week of November 5th) for $59 and is transferable. Group rates for parties of 15 or more are also available. East Lynne Theater Company A new radio-style play for Sherlock Holmes' Weekend performs in Cape May on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, before traveling up to Mahwah for a Sunday performance. This time, it's "The Adventure of the Speckled Band" with live sound effects, just like the original 1930 NBC radio productions. On Sunday, Nov. 4, ELTC is also sponsoring a day trip to Peddler's Village, in Pennsylvania. On Thursday, Nov. 8 is East Lynne's annual fundraiser, "101 Nights: A Magical Gala," featuring magician extraordinaire Robert Aberdeen, Middle Eastern Dancer Victoria Papale, and performers Mark Edward Lang and Alison J. Murphy. Once more, this special evening of food and fun, with an auction, will take place at Aleathea's Restaurant. "Louisa May Alcott's Christmas" rounds out the 2007 Season with shows between Nov. 23-Dec. 8 The Dinner-and-an-ELTC-Show-Combo still continues at the following restaurants: Aleathea's, Bloody Mary's Bar and Grill, 410 Bank Street, Frescos, The Mad Batter, Martini Beach, and The Washington Inn. | Dining In Cape May... | ||
| Anyone who has ever visited Historic Cape May, New Jersey has at least one favorite place they like to visit because the food is so good that they go back again and again. However, there are so many wonderful places to dine in Cape May from breakfast through dinner and late evening snacks that it isn’t possible to declare, “Ah ha! That’s THE ONE! It’s the best of all!” There’s a reason why it’s so difficult to single out just one restaurant or café as the best: the sheer number of them that are open to serve you. The restaurant critic in the New Jersey section of the New York Times calls Cape May “The Culinary Capital of New Jersey!” A little research (and some fantastic meals) reveals that many of the chefs at Cape May restaurants are graduates of the finest restaurant schools in the country, and they take what they do very seriously. After all, they want their dining patrons to return again and again. In this section of the in-room guide you’ll discover a host of places to dine, contact and reservation information (Reservations are strongly suggested during the early spring, summer and fall seasons depending on the type of restaurant or café and their policies), a description of their menu ( American, Italian, French, etc.) locations and related information. Whether it’s a simple and basic breakfast, a super lunch, a sit-down multi-course feast, a brunch, or simple bar food, you’ll find what you want in Cape May. There is a place for every taste, from the romantic Victorian dinner-for-two in the perfect setting of period furniture and lovely surroundings to “grab-and-go” take out fare to get you back to the beach as quickly as possible. You’ll find family-style dining, pub fare, ethnic food and more all within walking distance in the historic district, and just a short drive elsewhere within the Cape May community. Many of the restaurants and cafes remind you that they’re BYOB establishments because liquor licenses are based on fixed year-round populations, so be sure to ask about their policy when you call. If you enjoy adult beverages with your meals, they’ll be glad to chill and/or cork your wine for you. One final note: If you want to discover a wealth of information on places to eat, go to our website: www.GreatVacationGuide.com. Click on “search” at the TOP of the home page and then click on “restaurants” and “Cape May area” and start scrolling. You’ll discover why that food critic thinks so highly of Historic Victorian Cape May. It just doesn’t get any better than this! |
